What is MDCAT?

MDCAT stands for Medical Colleges and Admissions Test. Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) conducts these tests. It is mandatory for a student to pass MDCAT to get admissions in MBBS/BDS. Public Medical Colleges as well as private medical colleges are to grant admissions based on MDCAT result.


 

How many times is MDCAT conducted in  a year?

MDCAT is conducted once in a year. Submission of online applications usually starts from August through September of every year.

Who can apply for MDCAT?

Candidates who have passed intermediate (FSC pre-medical) examination with at least 70% of marks (770/1000) are eligible to apply for MDCAT.

Age Limit:

Pakistan Medical And Dental Council, PMDC declares that there is no minimum or a maximum mdcat age limit.

Minimum Passing Marks:

Minimum marks to pass MDCAT is 60%. 

After Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) turned down the request to lower the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) merit for the students of Sindh for admission to provincial Medical and Dental Colleges, The Government of Sindh has disapproved this criteria for granting admissions in Public and Private medical colleges and has decided to establish Sindh Medical and Dental Council (SMDC) for overseeing the related issues. Furthermore, the merit for the admissions to Medical and Dental Colleges in the province was lowered to 50% from 65%.        

What subjects are included in MDCAT?

MDCAT paper consists of five subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Logical Reasoning.
